A little about me

I started in PR dreading having to call up and pitch to journalists!

It didn’t help that the very first time I had to do this, it was to promote a diving initiative by the British Sub Aqua Club. Try saying that three times, fast.

I found that I couldn’t say British Sub Aqua Club without sounding like I had a mouth full of worms on speed AND I hated being on the phone!

So I asked if I could sit in a room alone for the first few calls as I had some serious Imposter Syndrome going on. Putting on my big girls pants and getting on with it meant that I soon became a permanent member of staff and it turned out I was actually pretty damn good at PR.

 

I had to get used to pitching to journalists and it took practice and pushing myself out of my comfort zone to get good at it. so I do get itI know how you feel! Attempting PR for the first time and pitching to national journalists can feel like we are getting above our station, but that’s just the mind monkeys keeping you small.
